Rethinking the car rental experience

Giago is a concept for a better car rental experience. One that skips the counter, keeps pricing transparent, and gets travelers on the road faster.

Designing an AI-powered guide for one of life's biggest decisions. This project explores how AI can help people navigate one of the most complex financial decisions of their lives, buying a home.

Through developing a human-centered AI strategy, we explored how AI can help people understand their options, make informed decisions, and move confidently through the home-buying journey.

The opportunity

What if renting a car at the airport could feel as easy as getting in and going?

The idea

Renting a car often starts with a frustrating ritual: find the shuttle, wait in line, repeat information you've already entered online, navigate upsells, then find your car in a giant garage.

Can we remove the parts that don't need to be there? The concept became a rental experience built around two simple choices:

Bring the car to me or Let me go straight to it.

A simpler way to get started

The experience starts before the trip. Travelers verify their identity, add a payment method, and get approved to drive without waiting until they arrive at the airport.

The goal was to make the boring stuff feel quick and straightforward, so the trip could start before the traveler even landed.

Choose your car, not your headache

I wanted the reservation experience to feel more like shopping than navigating a traditional rental site.

Users can browse available cars, compare options, see pricing upfront, and choose how they want to pick up their car. No surprise pricing at checkout. No wondering where your car is going to be.

Skip the counter

The core idea behind Giago was the pickup experience. With flight tracking, Giago knows when you're arriving. For curbside pickup, the car comes to you.

Land → Request your car → Walk outside → Go

Prefer to grab it yourself?

Shuttle or walk to the rental area and unlock the car yourself. Clear directions guide users from the terminal to their vehicle, while QR codes and a secure lockbox make unlocking simple once they arrive.

Closing thought

Giago was an exploration of how much simpler a familiar experience could become by questioning the steps we normally accept as necessary.
